Is Spring is here, and you’re not exactly prepared for a huge vacation? Don’t let that get you down! You’re in the majority of people who plan to stay home during Spring. If you’re looking for things to do, here are five great “staycation” ideas.
Use This Opportunity to Catch Up
Have you been meaning to go through your garage? How about painting that fence that always bugs you? Spring can be a great time to do a home improvement project or to declutter. Have a garage sale to turn your clutter into treasure. Get the whole family involved and make a plan! What can you accomplish?
Become a Local Tourist
Even if you live in the middle of nowhere, the odds are that there are exciting things to see, eat, experience, and learn within at least an hour’s drive. Make a list of all of the things you’ve always wanted to do but never seem to have the time for: try out a few new restaurants, visit libraries, museums, and other educational places like zoos, museums, etc.
Perform Acts of Kindness
Get the whole family involved in this one! Make a plan and choose one significant thing to do daily so your family blesses someone else. Know any single parents who need a break? Invite the kids over for a playdate. Make cookies and visit with people who are homebound or in nursing homes.
Movie & Game Nights Every Night
Allow everyone in your family to relax and have fun doing whatever they like during the day (or even use the daytime to knock out those projects listed above) but make every night a game and movie night. Play outside if you can, but don’t be afraid to pull out or borrow those classic board games you liked as a kid. Make sure you have plenty of snacks, and let every family member choose a movie to watch. You’ll love how close you feel after all of that quality time!
