Shopping for School

Back to School Shopping

Back to school is in full swing and that means new school clothes and supplies! Check out these helpful tips on how you can get ready for school without breaking the bank.

First, be sure to ask about price adjustments. That means, if you buy an item and it goes on sale, you can take the receipt back and they’ll give you the difference. Apple and other computer manufacturers offer educational discounts for computers and tablets. Make sure you check with your school district on any hardware or software restrictions there may be.

Second, use coupons! Sign up for store newsletters, check out their website, and social media pages. Don’t forget to ask about additional discounts before you check out! In Oklahoma, we have already had our “Tax-Free” days for school supplies. Make a point of using that discount next year

Third, look out for school supplies drives. Many churches and local organizations gather notebooks, pencils, pens, and more from the community and offer it to parents for free!

Fourth, get together with neighbors and buy common supplies in bulk. Hand wipes, pencils, paper, and tissues.

Just because school starts doesn’t mean you can’t save. With these tips, your family can get back into the fall routine without giving up your savings!
