Everyone experiences difficulties, setbacks, and moments of hardship in their lives, which can strain a person’s relationship with God and the Church. People experiencing hardship may find it easier to put their religion on the back burner while they work through their problems, but this is not what God wants us to do.
A Reason for the Suffering
Remember that God is with you in all you endure, even if it’s unpleasant. He gives us tests and trials to make sure we’re prepared for the future and our work through him. We’re often given hardships to strengthen our faith, but they can also teach and give us important experiences.
It’s natural to feel resentment towards God when dealing with something tough, but as Christians, we’re called to be strong and patient in our faith. He has plans to prosper each of us, not to harm us.
Verses for Hardship
No matter the situation, we can turn to the Scripture for encouragement during a hardship. There are countless verses of the word designed to offer love and support.
2 Timothy 4:5 says, “You, however, be self-controlled in all things, endure hardship, do an evangelist’s work, fulfill your ministry.”
Getting through the tough stuff is part of following Christ.
Remember, we should serve Him always, even in the hardest times. Giving praise through hardship proves to Him we are faithful. Romans 12:11-12 says, “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Your hardship doesn’t mean God has forgotten you. It means he has a future for you, and you need the strength to be prepared.
